Discussion/Progress Reports:
Marketing/Publicity
Town Meeting: All should participate in Town meeting; we will probably appear after lunch (THIS week)
Joan will work with Susan to publicize the culture/commemorative meeting next week.
Joan has recruited a high-powered team to work on publicity.
Administrative:
Reviewed organization structure and identified needs for Master Calendar, Schools liaison and fund raising. Several names identified; Sarah and Sara will coordinate follow up
Reviewed general approach to involve others. We will have a kick-off meeting for each category (schools, land, etc.) where the leads for each category will invite appropriate groups. Sarah will draft an agenda for those meetings and will circulate to everyone in next few days. After initial meeting, lead will follow up to create definite plan
Sarah handed out a proposed format for tracking the activities in each category. We will review and improve next week based on feedback
Determined that our “anchor events” will be:
Jefferson/Adams debate (availability and funding permitting) in February
Town Meeting re-enactment during Town Meeting
April Birthday party (probably linked to some of the April reenactment events)
July Fourth Intergenerational Picnic at Pierce Park
Town-wide bash at DeCordova in the fall
Some sort of commemoration of the year’s events
Funding:
Rhoda Taschioglou agreed to give some fund-raising consulting; Sarah to call to determine how best to involve her
Community Engagement: Celebrations and Special Events: No report; agreed to fold “celebrations” activities in with Engaging Community: Families and Special Events
Commemorations:
Agreed to hold kick-off meeting on April 11 at 9:15. Susan will contact relevant groups.
Community Engagement: Education/Schools:
Need to be sensitive to the many pressures schools are under as we approach them. Still need a school lead
Will hold a kick off meeting for schools on May 16.
Need to follow up with Supt. Brandmeyer re offer to appoint a liaison
Historical – no report
Caring for Land
Peg Marsh agreed to work with Sara Mattes on Land category
