Discussion:
Publicity
Joan reviewed the publicity plan.  She has updated information for the posters, which she’ll post soon.  It includes information on the March and April happenings.  Joan will write an article for inclusion in the special issue of the Lincoln Review.  Sarah drafted an article for the Lincoln Journal (all need to get edits to Sarah by Friday morning); this article could be reused in part of in total for the Lincoln Review article.

Bemis Trustees Update
We approved use of the logo for the Bemis Tennis event, noting that the private party would not be on the flyer that used the logo, and the tennis event would be mixed doubles, rather than men only.  Tucker announced that they have successfully raised the money for Billy Collins, the poet laureate, to lecture as part of the 250th.  They are now working on setting a date with him.

The Big Bash Update
Tucker reported that a lively and effective group is working on bash planning.  A band, 8 to the Bar, has been lined up.  The group plans to have a quiet area and a dance area.  They are contemplating a large “chestnut tree” with leaves on which people can write their version of “The Lincoln Way.”  They will have heavy hors d’oevres and drinks (DeCordova can’t do a cash bar).  Still to be worked out is the price (perhaps a 2-tier).  The group is also working on gaining approval (and contribution for) the use of a tent, which is typically only for DeCordova’s own events.  The museum can accommodate only 275 without the tent.  The band prefers to play in the tent rather than indoors.

Master Calendar Updates
We agreed to grey out the events that have passed by on the Master Calendar for clarity.  Doris reported that Leo Algeo and Al Bowles will tell “The Rest of the Story” at an event on Sunday, May 16th in the Donaldson Room at Town Offices.  The first part of the story was exceptionally successful.

Land Groups Update
Lincoln’s land groups have put together story boards, visible at the mall, the transfer station and the library.  To be updated quarterly, the boards cover land preservation stories in one quadrant of Lincoln each quarter.  Ginny Welles and Dwight Gertz are writing 12 articles for the Lincoln Journal to tell the stories in more detail (3 stories per quadrant, or per quarter).  ConCom is coordinating walks with the quadrant being covered.  The group still hopes to arrange neighborhood gatherings in each quadrant, focused on telling the story of that neighborhood’s “back yard” in the hopes of gaining the interest of a new set of people in Lincoln’s land story.  Based on 250th feedback, Sarah will ask the land groups to compile the information on a website, get the material into the vault, and explore mailing a compiled version town wide at the end of the year.

Booklet
The booklet is complete except for one more photograph on the Gropius House and cover design.  Sara hopes to get it out before Town Meeting.

Town Meeting Materials
We will have a table at town meeting, adjacent to the land groups who will have their story boards and article reprints.  We will hand out the one pager and have the postal cancellation available.  Joan will try to get a hat rack with some of last year’s hats. Joan will encourage the historical society to sell their books from our table.  Sarah will invite Cottage Press to do the same.  Sarah will work with Chris Coleman to get a table. We will not be on the Town Meeting agenda.

Next meeting date:      No date set, pending specific items to address
