Managing Upcoming Major Events
The upcoming major events (those that appear in bold on the master calendar) will each be managed by one committee member. That person will be responsible for convening any appropriate meetings, ironing out details, getting publicity information to Joan as necessary, etc. The assignments are as follows:
April 18th: Joan Silverman (historical society) and Susan Harding (Cultural Council)
July 4th: Nancy Pimental
Town Party at DeCordova: Tucker Smith
Pickles to Pastures: Sara Mattes and perhaps Peg Marsh?
Evening of Civics/Jefferson: Sara Mattes
Town Land Groups Symposium: Sarah Andrysiak (perhaps with Peg Marsh)
Land Groups Update
Sarah reported on progress of Lincoln Land groups. They are planning to a broad educational effort to communicate the history of land planning in Lincoln, hoping to reach some folks who have not yet heard the story. They’ll be dividing the town into quadrants, covering one quadrant in each quarter of 2004. For each quadrant, they plan to do monthly stories about parcels in that quadrant in the Lincoln Journal and on story boards to be placed at the Mall, and perhaps the Library and transfer station. They also hope to do neighborhood gatherings and trail walks in each of the quadrants. They hope that by telling the story of people’s back yards, they can interest new individuals in land use in Lincoln.
Lincoln Journal Update
Stephen Hagan is willing to dedicate a weekly column to the 250th. The land groups hope to use one column a month. Sarah and Nancy will meet to determine if we can use the monthly offer by having a series of people contribute (perhaps someone would want to do a series of interviews with key individuals, or the historical society might want to do a couple articles, etc.)
Booklet
Sara continues to work with Jack and Kerry on finalizing the booklet. Tucker will call Sara to discuss getting Paul Montie involved in the cover design, which is the last piece before it goes to press.
