Approved meeting notes from last week

250th Kick-Off at Pierce House
Sarah welcomed the Pierce House Committee members and thanked them for their willingness to modify the New Years’ Day event to accommodate the 250th kick-off.  Richard reported that he has ordered a 250 foot cake in honor of the occasion. Decisions as follows:
A ceremonial cake cutting will take place at 2:15
Past and present selectmen will do the honors of cutting the cake (perhaps in chronological order by their dates of service).  Sara Mattes will coordinate with them
A special cake cutter is needed.  Nancy Pimental and Joan will research options
The 250th committee will find funds to print and mail a post-card town-wide announcing the event; the cake cutting will appear on the post card.  Sarah and Nancy will work on finding funding, coordinated with the other funding needs
The Pierce House Committee will develop the design and text for the postcard Stephanie Rolfe will take lead
The event will be listed in the calendar section of the paper and in letters to the editor, but we will be careful how things are worded to make it clear that it’s Lincoln only.
We will explore having 250th buttons or other small commemorative item available on New Years’ Day, and probably available for sale thereafter.  Nancy Pimental will research options and prices
The Pierce House Committee will coordinate with Joan Silverman about posters, etc.  Perhaps the post-card, enlarged, can serve as the poster
The Pierce House Committee will use the sandwich boards from the Celebrations Committee.  Jean Horne and Nancy Pimental will coordinate.

Booklet
Sara distributed a draft of the booklet.  It contains three chapters from this and 2 prior anniversary celebrations.  Jack MacLean has done a terrific job of creating speech excerpts from 1904 to make up the first chapter.  The second is the material from the 1954 booklet.  Our materials are the third.  The cover letter will be created, too.  We agreed to add a heading page delineating each chapter (there wasn’t one for ours).  Rick Mandlekorn is photographing the five houses.  We are still on track to mail in early January.  Sara requested comments ASAP for inclusion.

SPNEA Discussion
David Moore is the new site manager at both Lincoln SPNEA properties, and he discussed SPNEA’s interest in helping out with the 250th as part of their larger goal to “pay back to the town for the benefits of being in Lincoln.”  We discussed several possible concepts:
Re-enact the DoCoMoMo (sp?) tour of modern homes in Lincoln (Dana Robbat’s material) with the 250th group or with Bemis as the sponsor.  Sarah A. will call Neil Feinberg to explore the possibility of a Bemis sponsorship
Use the Codman carriage house for an event.  A heated space with bathroom and cooking facilities, it can fit about 200 people seated for an event
A special Lincoln only event at the Gropius house; the issue will be timing and how to manage a large group since tours are typically limited to 10 people.
