Lincoln Town Offices
Commissioners Present: Lynn Bower, Kit Carmody, Heidi Tafel, James Harrison, Ari Kurtz, Ellen Raja, Peg Marsh
As this was the first meeting of the Lincoln Agriculture Commission (LAC), Selectmen Sara Mattes met with the Commissioners and recommended the following actions be taken by the Commission:
- To create an agriculture inventory for the town.
- To serve as an advocate for producers of agricultural products in town.
- To meet with Peter Westover from the Mass. Dept. of Ag. Resources (MDAR) to learn more about the function of other town Agriculture Commissions.
- Research a “right to farm” bylaw.
Administrative:
- The LAC currently has no budget. Commissioners can be reimbursed for costs incurred in the course of doing business for the Commission such as conference fees and parking.
- Meeting times and locations must be posting 48 hours in advance with the town.
- Mailings. There is no budget for town-wide mailings. It may be possible for the Ag. Comm. to “piggy-back” mailings with other town-wide mailings.
- Subject to the approval of the Commissioners not in attendance, the Commission will meet once a month on Thursday evening at 6:30pm with the first meeting to be held on March 19, 2009 at the Town Offices.
