FCOA Report – Avram  Kalisky
The calendar “coming out” party on Sunday, October 16 was a success, with about 50 people attending.  2,400 calendars were printed, and 1,300 have been sold.

Director’s Report – Karen Santucci
Karen passed out the November calendar, and pointed out special events.  She also passed out an updated list of COA members, including year appointed and term expiration.  Bob Sutherland pointed out that there are too many 06 expirations.  Karen reported that Margaret Hubbard has asked to sell silk scarves made by Vietnam Vets, with profits going to victims of landmines.  The decision was made to approve this, pending Margaret’s willingness to donate 10% of profits to the COA, and schedule availability.  A request has come from the Historical Commission to use our new projector.  The policy was set that it can be used in Bemis Hall if a COA board member who knows how to use the equipment is present. The Flu Clinic will be Saturday, November 19, 9-11a.m. at Bemis Hall.  A sign up sheet for helpers was passed around.

Clinics – Dot Taylor
Everything is fine.

Trips – Flo Caras
The leaf peeping trip was fun, even though it rained.  Future trips being planned are Nov.-Full Monty, Dec.-Nutcracker, Jan.-Museum of Science, Feb.-MFA, March-Foxwoods, April-Red Sox Tour, May-Ragtime at New Rep, June-Lobster/ Clambake, July-Paw Sox.

SHINE/Minuteman Senior Services – John Caswell
An information meeting about Medicare D will be held at Bemis Hall October 28.
MSS has no waiting list for services now.  An open house in celebration of 30 years of service will take place November 2nd.

Publicity – Jack McCandless – Publicity is well covered.

Strategic Planning – Bob Sutherland
An information meeting was held at Battle Road Farm October 16.  Four people plus Board members attended. Bob suggested an update of strategic planning in January or February.
State of the Town Meeting – November 5, 2005
Land use is the topic.  At risk properties, including housing issues, will be part of the discussion.

Programs – Julie Pugh reporting for Peggy Boyer
A genealogy program is being planned.  The Hike Mt. Wachusetts trip was fun.  Flo Caras said she received feedback that it was too difficult.  This hike was part of the Outdoor Adventure Club.

The November meeting will include a joint lunch with the FCOA.  Let Julie or Karen know if you cannot come, as lunch will be ordered.

Flo Caras asked if the Board thinks the Strawberry Festival is too much work.  She said Kimballs does this kind of thing for groups.  The decision was to do it ourselves, at Bemis Hall.

The meeting adjourned at 4:10p.m.

The next meeting will be November 8, 2005, at Bemis Hall.
12:00 – 1:00 – Joint luncheon meeting with FCOA
