DISCUSSION ITEMS

Beaver at Mt. Misery and Baker Bridge
Mike Callahan from Beaver Solutions checked the dam across the road from St. Anne's. He suggested that the existing culvert under the old roadway be opened up and that exclosure fencing be installed upstream and downstream from the culvert.  This is the last likely spot for them to dam in the Mt. Misery area. He recommended the Commission wait until spring to do the work so the beaver and other wildlife can survive through the winter. MBTA has started working on the culvert blockage at the railroad tracks adjacent to the Baker Bridge/Food Project agricultural fields.

Conservation Hats
The Commission is interested in ordering hats to look more official when out on site visits or walking on Conservation land. Angela Kearney will place an order with the same company we ordered the shirts from, Holovak/Coughlin.

NPDES Storm Drain Stenciling and Culvert Mapping
Angela Kearney informed the Commissioners on the next steps to comply with the NPDES Phase II Stormwater Permit. The report is due in May and one of the next major steps is to field verify storm drains and culverts in town. Angela is working with Chuck Miller, IT Director to find the most suitable technology to make field mapping efficient and effective. Currently, they are considering a handheld PC with ArcPad Software and a detached GPS unit. The data will sync directly with the desktop GIS software and is suitable for other types of mapping for all town departments.  Tom will write a stormwater article for publication in the Lincoln Journal.

New Commissioners
The Commission is still in need of up to three new Conservation Commission Members. This meeting was Mary Lincoln's last and the Commission is now down to five members with two open slots and another member’s term ends in March, 2006.
