TRAVIS ROY EVENT
We discussed the following for the upcoming Travis Roy Event the Cultural Council is putting on with the co-sponsorship of the PTA, Friends of the Lincoln Library and Lincoln School Foundation.
Finance - Barbara says Friends of LL have paid us all they had pledged. PTA owes $650. Barbara says she has heard from them and that the check should be coming. LSF gave us 1/2 of the $500 grant and the rest will come after the event. Barbara said she put in to have the check for the balance to Travis Roy for 1st half Sep.
Publicity - Jay spoke Ben Aaronson. Ben is interested in doing a series on accessibility. Barbara thought if he was doing a full piece on Travis this should go at end of series. Jay thought there should still be a teaser. Barbara says PTA will do mini link and Principals will send letters home to publicize and encourage people to attend evening session. Jay thinks we should mail or place posters in adjoining towns.
Barbara suggested Concord, Wayland, Weston, Lexington, Bedford, Sudbury. Send to community news in those towns and to the Wicked Local Calendar. Barbara said she would do that.
Jay to contact if Travis's management if there is a poster they have or at least a photo we can use.
Barbara asked Jay to see if Travis' agent might be able to get Cam Neely to introduce Travis since Cam lives in town.
Barbara said Friends of Library has saw horse sign boards. Sarah will do big posters for these and they will get placed at 5 corners and the school.
Barbara thinks posters to go up around Sep 1st. Reminds that Posters need to credit LCC, PTA, Friends of Lincoln Library, Lincoln School Foundation
Barbara will ASK the principals to include a notice of the evening event in the newsletters they send to parents.
Barbara will check with Buck Creel to see if there will be any custodial expenses.
Jay suggests something like "in a matter of seconds your life could change forever"
Jay asked if someone can serve as publicity coordinator. The sound of crickets was heard.
Barbara will contact Community Newspaper Calendar
Susan will send a press release to editors of the local area newspapers. Need to run copy past Travis’ agents.
