Demolition Delay Bylaw Review:
335 South Great Road - demolish dwelling:
Lynne Bower of Stonegate Gardens came before the members representing the owner Bruce MacDowell to ask for permission to demolish the dwelling at 335 South Great Road, which is next to the nursery. She said that at the present time her children, who attend college, are living in the house and will be there until May of 2006. She said that they do not intend to rebuild on the property but will be using the parcel for nursery stock. After a brief discussion, a motion was made and seconded to grant approval for the demolition. The motion passed 3-0.
16 Old Cambridge Turnpike demolish dwelling:
Germano DiMambro came before the members to ask for permission to demolish the dwelling at 16 Old Cambridge Turnpike, which he just recently purchased. Mr. DiMambro stated that the stone foundation of the house is crumbling and leaking, the garage foundation is cracked and the ceilings on the second floor are very low. He would like to put up a 2,500 sq. ft. house on the same footprint as the existing house, which is approximately 1,900 sq. ft. Colin Smith felt that the house appeared to be in good shape and was concerned that what Mr. DiMambro was proposing to put up would not be in keeping with the look of the neighborhood. Mr. DiMambro said that he was flexible about the style of house he would build and would work with the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board to come up with a dwelling
that would compliment the neighborhood. Geraldine and Bonita Robbins and Bella Wheeler, abutters, said that they were concerned that a teardown would be bad for the neighborhood and were hoping that the new owners would renovate instead of demolishing the structure. After further discussion, a motion was made and seconded to approve the application for demolition. The motion passed 3-0. Mr. DiMambro was reminded that he must get approvals from the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board before any demolition is done.
Certificates of Appropriateness:
20 Trapelo Road alteration to fence already approved:
The members reviewed a plan showing a western red cedar picket fence pool enclosure with a planting screen of “China Girl” holly, which was revised on Sept. 6, 2005. After reviewing the plan, Colin Smith revised the Certificate of Appropriateness to show a western red cedar picket fence instead of a wrought iron fence to enclose the pool.
