Lincoln Housing Commission Minutes
December 9, 2003
Present: R. Caplan, A. Kalisky, M. Troy, B. Wolf
75 Tower Rd.: Caplan contacted S. Hagan at the Lincoln Journal, who will do a walk-through of the house with a photographer and prepare an article for the paper. The article will emphasize the long-delayed updating of the property, generous contributions received, and the opportunity it will provide for affordable housing. The final work is underway on carpeting and painting, etc. She noted that E. Midgely has gone above and beyond in his work to rehab the property, which will be completed within the $40,000 budget. Caplan will also invite Peter Adams and Mary Cancian, among others, to visit the home. Wolf and Troy will attempt to contact S. Hagan to contribute to the newspaper article.
E. Midgely reported that he has spent approximately $36,200 (including the counter tops). With carpeting and electrical work, the total comes to about $40,000. An additional $2,000 may be required to finish up, but this can probably be picked up from existing funding sources. Deleading on the porch begins today. The new tenants are expected to move in Dec. 15.
CPC: Troy emphasized that the more information we have the better in order to compete for funding. We will focus on this at the next meeting, Jan. 6th, to prepare for the CPC meeting Jan. 13th. Wolf agreed to contact Georges regarding Sunnyside Lane estimates.
Warrant Article: Caplan will remind Tim Higgins of need for warrant article to establish revolving fund for rental income.
New Committees: Troy recommended Ginny Lemire for inclusion on the Senior Housing Task Force. Pam Gallup was also endorsed. It was noted that Karen Santucci of the Council on Aging has additional recommendations. Caplan will query Higgins on the status of both the Senior Task Force and the Accessory Apartment committee. Both committees seem unduly delayed in being appointed. If necessary, she will attempt to get the Housing Commission on the Selectmen’s meeting agenda to push the process forward.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20 a.m.
Next meeting: Jan. 6, 2004, at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 23 meeting cancelled.
