Housing Comm - Minutes - April 27, 2004
Lincoln Housing Commission Minutes

April 27, 2004

Present:  R. Caplan, A. Kalisky, B. Wolf

Minutes:  The minutes of April 13th were approved.

Sunnyside Lane:  There will be a meeting of various town officials on Thursday, April 29th, at 7:30 a.m. to go over the process for building the Sunnyside Lane units.  George Georges will attend.  A ceremony celebrating the transfer of these lots from the State will await completion of the Walden parcel transfer to the State, which was part of the overall transaction.

Green Ridge buydown:  We are still awaiting State approval regarding sale  and financing criteria, but it should be forthcoming shortly.

Accessory Apartment Task Force:  The task force has held its first meeting and its work is underway.

Minuteman Commons:  Wolf reported that she and Ken Hurd of the Planning Board have met twice with the architect, Gary Hendren.  The developers are trying to improve the design of the 32-unit project, especially toward providing at least one covered parking space per unit.  The latest effort has shifted the driveway to the center of the lot, moved parking under the buildings, and modified the buildings’ location on the site.  The archway has been eliminated and it is likely a common room will be developed in the basement of one of the buildings.  Hurd has encouraged the developers to think creatively about the siting of the buildings, particularly to avoid a rigid “development” look.  Another meeting is scheduled for May 6th at 8:00 a.m.

Work Assignments:  Diadiuk had expressed interest in serving as liaison to Hanscom regarding the base housing privatization.  She also would like the Commission to investigate housing restrictions or easements which might help conserve smaller homes from redevelopment.  She will be encouraged to proceed.

Section 8:  Recent news has indicated that some Massachusetts tenants may lose their Section 8 vouchers because of funding issues.  Caplan will check with the Concord Housing Authority on the status of our one Section 8 voucher, although it is unlikely that it will be affected.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 a.m

The next meeting will be May 11th at 7:30 a.m.
