Housing Commission Minutes
February 8, 2005

Minutes: The minutes of January 11 and January 25 were approved as corrected.
Accessory Apartment Task Force: Scheff reported that this group will present its report at Town Meeting. It will also propose an article for approval that would establish an affordable accessory apartment program. To provide an incentive to apartment owners, a $1,000 annual rental subsidy/stipend would be offered. No property tax abatement for such affordable accessory apartments is allowed under current State law.
Other Warrant Articles: One article seeks to establish a Housing Fund which could accept funds received for housing from private donations, CPA, and in lieu of payments under inclusionary zoning (should it be approved). Another is a housekeeping article which reauthorizes the Housing Com. revolving fund. This funds accumulates rents, must remain under $50,000, and is used for maintenance and administrative expenses.
Minuteman Commons: Preliminary feedback has been received from DHCD regarding the Minuteman Commons documents. A number of questions were raised, most of which seemed to be lawyer issues. Scheff will discuss this with Mark Whitehead.
Sunnyside: Progress awaits the preparation of a certified plot plan.
