Housing Commission Minutes
March 8, 2005
Present: Rayna Caplan, George Georges, Avram Kalisky, BJ Scheff and Bryce Wolf.
Minutes: The minutes of February 22 were approved.
Smart Growth Forum: Scheff explained that DHCD has drafted new regulations and that funds are available to establish overlay districts in town centers that might be suitable for higher density and afffordable housing. 20% of such housing must be deemed affordable. Georges agreed to attend the upcoming forum on the program to be held March 16, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. in Boston.
Sunnyside, Concord Housing Authority: A notice was received from the Concord Housing Authority stating that they plan to inspect toward recertification of the existing Sunnyside home for Section 8 purposes in June.
Rents: Total rents received on the existing three rental properties appear to be $2760 per month.
Senior Housing: Kalisky reported that the Council on Aging and the Friends of the Council on Aging have sent a letter to the Selectmen asking that the long anticipated Task Force on Senior Housing be established. It is not clear why the process has been delayed.
Sunnyside: Chris Coleman briefly joined the meeting to report that the architect’s contract has finally been signed and that the project can begin to move forward. A meeting of the construction sub-group will be scheduled.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 a.m.
The next meetings are scheduled for March 22 and April 12, 2005.
