Housing Comm - Minutes June 14, 2005
Housing Commission Minutes

June 14, 2005

Present:  Rayna Caplan, George Georges, BJ Scheff and Bryce Wolf.  Also attending was Sam Rappaport of Battle Farm who expressed an interest in the Housing Commission’s work.

Bills:  Bills were paid for 30 Sunnyside Lane: $189 for water and $266.64 for GFI switches and related electrical.

Sunnyside Lane Project:  All reports from the various town boards have been filed and the Zoning Board of Appeals has voted to approve the residence and accessory apartment.  However, the ZBA must still write, sign and file the decision.  Once filed, a 20-day appeal period must elapse before any construction contract can be awarded. Work is now underway toward preparing an RFP.  If construction begins this fall, as planned, attention can be turned toward adding an apartment to 30 Sunnyside and renovating the existing home.  Mr. Rappaport, a builder, suggested that he might be able offer some ideas on how this might be done.

Affordable Accessory Apartment Agreement:  With at least two new affordable accessory apartments potentially becoming available, it was noted that we need to prepare an agreement of affordability between landlord and town.  Because this will be a legal document we may need to have an attorney prepare it.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 a.m.

The next meetings are scheduled for June 28 and July 19 at 7:30 a.m.
