Business:
Sunnyside Lottery
The lottery is scheduled for June 28, 2007, at 5:30 PM, in the Donaldson Room at Town Hall. BJ and Pam will review the draft letter to applicants received from Judy Epstein, and send her a final cut.
Sunnyside Lease
Pam and George are reviewing the lease, and will have it ready for approval at a future meeting.
Sunnyside Construction Update
The units still need to be painted. The terms of the contract with Pope for the units at #26 state that we are responsible for final paint on those units as well as for #30.
Minuteman Tech submitted a landscaping plan, which was reviewed by the Commission. Choice of plants is to be further reviewed to confirm that all are native or non-invasive. The estimated cost will be $4,410. This is higher than our original cost estimate for landscaping, but everyone agreed still reasonable.
Options for grass was discussed. The loam will be spread soon, and the area will be seeded as soon as possible. Different types of seeding were discussed. A decision on type of grass and when it will be spread will be made by Earl, depending on cost and when the soil is ready.
The unit at #30 is still without electricity. NStar needs to send an engineer to the site to check loads on the transformer before electricity can be installed. This is anticipated to happen within 7-10 days. Final testing of systems can not happen until the electricity is functional.
Earl reported on our cash situation. There is a predicted shortfall of under $35,000 for remaining items. He submitted a list with details of remaining expenses. The Commission approved using the revolving fund to cover the shortfall.
WATCH Update
Steve Laferriere of WATCH (Waltham Alliance to Create Housing) visited us at our last meeting (5/22/2007) expressing an interest in possible development at 118 Lexington Street. Since then, WATCH did investigate septic issues at that location, and determined that the cost would be prohibitive, and have no further interest in development at that location.
Celebrations Committee
The Commission has received a request from the Celebrations Committee to take part in the July 4th parade this year. The theme is “Fifes and Flags.” The Commission agreed to plan a float for the parade.
Adjournment: Housing Commission adjourned at 8:50 AM.
