Housing Commission Minutes of October 23, 2007

Call to Order: 7:40 AM
Minutes: The Board read and approved minutes for the October 16 meeting, with corrections.
Business:
Housing Commission Budget
A MOTION was made and seconded to add a shelf above the washer/dryer at 28 Sunnyside Lane. The Motion passed unanimously.
Sunnyside Maintenance
The known problems at 26 Sunnyside have been repaired. These include replacement of a defective thermostat and bleeding of the radiators.
Sunnyside Landscaping
Rayna reported that she has met with Steve Noble from Minuteman Tech to plan the landscaping for Sunnyside Lane. Minuteman will also take care of seeding needed spots, and fertilizing the lawn. Rayna and Renel will look into getting a Purchase Order for Stonegate Gardens, not to exceed $3,500.00.
30B Sunnyside Rental
Renel reported that the last potential tenant on the lottery list and withdrawn her name from consideration. Pam is checking with Town Council to see if there are any restrictions on renting the unit at this point.
Affordable Housing Trust
A joint meeting between the Housing Trust and the Housing Commission has been scheduled for November 6 at 8:00 AM. The purpose of the meeting will be to hold a strategic-level planning session.
Selectmen
The Selectmen have requested a joint meeting with the Housing Commission to discuss a legal matter in Executive Session. The date and time are still to be confirmed.
Community Preservation Committee
Renel presented a draft proposal for CPC funds to be spent on updating the Consolidated Housing Plan. The amount of $20,000 will be asked for to cover the cost of a Consultant. A MOTION was made and seconded to present this proposal to the CPC. The Motion passed unanimously.
Rayna presented a proposal for funds for capital improvements for 65 Tower Road. Several members had viewed the property and were able to make a list of proposed improvements. These improvements would include: interior and exterior paint, replace the linoleum in the kitchen and first floor bath, and replace the kitchen counter, sink, and faucet. The CPC proposal will be for $20,000. George will make a second visit to the property to review whether the furnace would need replacing, and whether or not lead need to be removed from the property. If these are needed, the amount of the CPC request will be adjusted accordingly. A MOTION was made and seconded to present this proposal to the CPC. The Motion passed unanimously.
