Housing Minutes - March 24, 2009

Lincoln Housing Commission
Meeting Minutes of Mar 24, 2009 at 4:30 pm
Lincoln Town Hall, Donaldson Room

Present: Renel Fredriksen, BJ Scheff, George Georges, Pam Gallup
Also present:  Connie Lewis, Mary Sheldon and Anita Scheipers, Timothy Higgins

Actions and Discussion:

1)      Minutes of March 10, 2009:  Pam Gallup moved and George Georges seconded to approve the minutes of March 10th.  The motion was approved unanimously.
2)      The Commission reviewed and approved for payment bills payable for (1) Home Deport and (2) Lincoln Tree & Landscaping for a total amount of $979.09.
3)      It was announced that the new tenant for 30A Sunnyside has submitted the necessary first and last months rent, and is prepared to move in with the unit “as is”.  Pam Gallup moved and George Georges seconded to allow the new tenant to move in effective March 28, 2009. Motion was approved unanimously.
4)      Renel Fredricksen provided copies of a Q&A document prepared by the Five Town Collaborative, and asked the commission to confirm whether this initiative is something the commission wishes to formally participate in.  It was discussed that while the collaborative offered opportunities to share experience and staff resources to further local initiatives, it was felt that the lack of local control and lack of similarity between Lincoln and the other communities did not create ideal conditions for Lincoln to join the group. The consensus was not to move forward with formally joining the collaborative.
5)      Earl Midgley stated he has worked with N Starr to continue utilities coverage for 30A Sunnyside until the new tenant takes occupancy.
6)      Outgoing member BJ Scheff was acknowledged and thanked for her many years of service to the Town as a truly effective member of the Housing Commission. Many town officials and town staff were present to express their appreciation and respect.
7)      Renel Fredricksen presented her intended town meeting presentation to the group. Discussion took place relative to town meeting process.
8)      Meeting adjourned at approximately 5:30pm.
