Minutes of Jan 9, 2008 Commission On Disabilities meeting:
Members Present: Rob Loud, Adeline Naiman, Kitty Stein, Anita Scheipers
Members Not Present: Debbie Dorsey, Jim Spindler
Discussion and Action Items:
1) Membership: Rob Loud confirmed that Kathy Deickler contacted him prior to the end of 2007 to announce she must resign from the Commission effective immediately. This resignation along with that of Jill Harkaway leaves the Commission low on members. It was agreed that the Commission would seek new members through an article Adeline Naiman will place in the Lincoln Journal, and by placing a request for new members in the 2007 annual town report. (See below.)
2) Annual Town Report: Anita Scheipers announced the report from the Commission is past due and offered to write the report for the group using last years report as a guide. She agreed to review past meeting minutes to insert a brief list of 2007 accomplishments of the Commission and to forward the draft to members for quick edits prior to being placed in the full report the week of January 14th, 2008.
3) Conservation Commission’s (ConComm’s) Open Space Plan: Rob Loud reported he had been contacted by ConComm employee Angela Seaborg who was seeking additional input to the accessibility portion of the ConComm’s submittal to the state. After much discussion, it was agreed that Adeline would contact Angela regarding the status of the Commission’s discussion on the issue. Anita Scheipers also reported that she would be assisting Angela with a check-off list to detail the accessibility of each facility listed in the report. It was agreed that the Commission had no input at this time as to future goals for accessibility
for the town’s open space and recreation facilities.
4) Minutes: There was no action taken on the draft minutes of the Nov. 2007 meeting. It was confirmed that Anita Scheipers would take the minutes of each meeting, if present, for 2008.
5) LCD web page: It was agreed additional edits were needed on the web page to reflect the members who had resigned or been added, as well as to update the site with the 2006 LDC annual town report and the 2007 State of the Town LDC report. Anita Scheipers agreed to handle this task and urged members to check the site within one week to review the changes.
6) Next Meeting: The next meeting was set for Monday Feb. 4th, 2008 at 11:00 am. Anita Scheipers will post the meeting and ensure the notice is placed on the website and on cable.
