Minutes of the Personnel Board

Members Present: Beth Ries, Kathy Nicholson and Graham Walker
Also present: Asst. Town Administrator Anita Scheipers and Treasurer/Collector Mary Day.
1) Introductions were made to new board member Graham Walker.
2) Mary Day presented the draft language which clarifies for all employees the policy regarding continuation of insurance coverage during periods of FMLA leave and unpaid leave. The Board approved the policy with minor edits. A notice will be sent to all employees regarding this written policy and will be inserted into the next edition of the employee handbook. (attached)
3) The draft language amending the employee handbook section on Deployment Pay was approved as submitted. (attached)
4) The draft language amending the employee handbook on non-discrimination in employment was approved as submitted to be inserted in the handbook as an Attachment D n the back of the book. (attached)
5) Anita updated the Board as to the ongoing efforts to draft policy language regarding town employees holding multiple paid appointed positions. She will bring an updated draft to the Board for review at a future meeting.
6) Anita advised that she had received communication from Water Commissioner Penny Billings asking that language relative to the Water Department be included as needed in the next edition of the employee handbook. The Board asked Anita to contact Ms. Billings requesting suggested edits to the handbook which she feels may be needed.
7) The minutes of Jan 15, 2009 were approved with edits.
8) The next meeting date has not yet been scheduled.
9) Meeting adjourned at approximately 9:05 am.
