RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
March 19, 2007
Present: Noah Eckhouse, Susie Collins, Cathy Long, Dan Pereira, Ingrid Neri (minutes)
Minutes: Minutes from 1/22/07 were accepted with minor changes.
Programming Update:
Jonathan Dwyer (J.D.) attended our meeting to report on the Celebrations Committee. He has accepted the role of Celebrations Leader and Chrissy Long will be the Celebrations Coordinator. We voted to adopt the Celebration ’07 Flowchart and Job Descriptions. The committee will be comprised of the Celebrations Leader, Celebrations coordinator, and Event Captains. Chris Stock has agreed to be the “Parade” Captain for this year’s Fourth of July. We reviewed the status of Celebration Events to date and will revisit at our next Rec. meeting.
A job has been offered to a candidate for the Camp Director and will be confirmed soon.
Program fees were reviewed and approved.
Committee Calendar: We reviewed our calendar and agreed to add Pool Policy to February on our Annual Calendar. It was advised that all who use the fields be made aware that they will not open until April 14th.
The possibility of a community Bulletin Board was brought up as there was request to run ads for T-Ball. How we will manage and create parameters for such a service was discussed and will continue at future meetings.
Finances:
Revolving Fund and General Fund statistics were reviewed. We are currently about 30K behind last year which is about the same as last year.
Dan reported that due to the Integrated Preschool Expansion, the Rec. Office will be moving to the A-Pod.
Facilities:
Dan reported on the fields. Trugreen has given the 2007 Field Repair Proposal. Dan will continue to work with them and also approach LYS for a contribution towards the costs of this maintenance.
The Tennis Courts will be maintained again by NE Tennis Centers. The repair of the fences surrounding the courts also needs attention.
Burns, Inc. will come and rake out the mulch this spring on the Playgrounds.
The new playground “Grand Opening” will be planned by Susie, Cathy and Ingrid.
Stacey submitted a proposal for a change in pool times this summer. We approved closing at 6pm, Sunday through Thursday and 7pm Friday & Saturday after August 11th this summer. We also approved closing the pool when rain is extreme enough to inhibit swimming.
The Town of Lincoln Open space plan was reviewed. Dan asked us to read Section C, specifically pertaining to us and give him any feedback we have.
Upcoming Meetings:
4/23/07, 5/21/07, 6/18/07
