Recreation Committee Minutes
February 25, 2008
Attendance: Susie Collins, Chris Fasciano, Ted Julian (Minutes), Ingrid Neri, Jane Tatlock, Dan Pereira, Stacey Mulroy
Minutes: Minutes from the January meeting were reviewed and accepted as amended.
Programming Update:
· Winter Carnival: events we ran went smoothly. Discussed new groups we might approach to expand the calendar. Is there a backup event we could do for Saturday in case skating is not an option.
· Should we do another adult oriented event at some point in the year? A summer coffee house? Karaoke night?
· Celebrations meeting next week. No major changes planned to the calendar. 4th of July theme is Eye on The Future.
· Getting started with PEAK implementation for our programs registration. Plan to make it available to the public via the Web site in the Fall. Will use internally between now and then.
· General Fund Program: reviewed options for program pricing. Discussed applying the use fee concept for fields to courts for tennis. Suggested we discuss that with the committee. Fees were reviewed for all of the programs and a new fee schedule was proposed and accepted.
Finances: In line with historical trend over the past few years, expenses for the past two months have been higher as we’ve invested in infrastructure like the fields, fees for which will come in the next few months. Nonetheless, expenses for January 2008 were within ~1K of January 2007.
Facilities Update: Tot lot needs some maintenance and updates which we’ll do. Discussed field use fee structure (ex. per year or per season), there will be a separate meeting on fields later this week with the groups that use the fields.
Other issues: Dan will work on planning a party for Cathy Long. March meeting is rescheduled from 3/17/08 – 3/24/08.
Next Meetings: 3/24/08, 4/14/08, 5/19/08, 6/16/08.
