RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
5/18/09
Present: Susie Collins, Ted Julian (minutes), Jane Tatlock, Dan Pereira, Noah
Eckhouse, Stacey Mulroy, Chris Fasciano
Minutes: The minutes from the April meeting were approved as amended.
Programming:
Dan reviewed the program numbers to date. Camp numbers seem down, which
seems to be the trend in neighboring towns (with Sudbury an exception).
Celebrations. Memorial Day planning is looking good. Discussion of ways to
broaden our network amongst veterans, particularly more recent veterans. July
4th fireworks are all set. Coordinating with police and on other logistics. Road
race and parade are set.
Facilities:
Codman pool. Pool is full, getting it cleaned out and the water balanced, as well
as other miscellaneous maintenance. Staff is set, paperwork is in. Out of town
requests for membership remain high.
Tennis courts. They are open and in reasonable shape.
Athletic fields. Fields are open and looking pretty good. The changes we’e
made have resulted in substantially better fields –yay!
Playground inspection will happen before the end of the fiscal year

Finances:
Revenue is coming in quicker with the move to online registrations. Too early to
say if this reflects truly improved finances or just a shift in collections.
Other issues:
Discussion of which long term projects to put on our capital projects plan.
