RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES

Minutes: The minutes from the May meeting were approved as amended.
Programming:
Discussed participant numbers
Financially we are ahead because of the July 2008 deposit
Celebrations, 4th of July: discussion regarding no throwing candy during the
parade. Jake’ Dixie Road House will cater. Discussed parking on Smith Field
during Fireworks to raise more money. Concerns regarding safety issues.
Facilities:
Codman Pool. Voted to allow more non-residents to join the pool. We agreed to
take 50% off the waitlist. Discussed creating a Codman Pool Newsletter.
Discussed a weather cancellation policy.
Tennis courts. Courts are good but the lighted ones are a little soft. Looking into
renting something to roll them more effectively and earlier in the season.
Athletic fields. Fields have been fertilized and aeration will happen at the end of
June. Town Hall is still closed. Discussed problems with our landscaper.
Strats playground discussion, planning on getting it audited in the Fall.
Communicate with the school committee regarding this audit.

Discussion of which long term projects to put on our capital projects plan.
